Chardonnay Off-Piste Magnum 2023
Description
A wine with a juicy and grippy finish. Slightly cloudy lemon yellow color. Nutty, vegetal and slightly yeasty aroma of partially preserved citrus fruit. Fresh-buttery nuances with a hint of tobacco in the background.
Most of the grapes come from the Herrenberg. The soil of this steepest part above Oppenheim (Rheinhessen) consists of calcareous marl with a small proportion of clay. Hand harvested and macerated without stem for a week in the juice. 50 percent fermented in stainless steel and the other 50 percent in used large oak barrels. Aged 8 months in oak barrels and bottled unfiltered with a small dose of sulfur.
