Roterfaden
Biodynamic finesse from Würmtemberg - Roterfaden.
Olympia and Hannes of Roterfaden farm their vines on soils of limestone marl and blue slate, similar to those in the Jura in France. They make Lemberger (Blaufränkisch), Pinot Noir and Riesling in the Württemberg region of Germany. After studying in Geisemheim and training with Claus Preisinger, Hannes and Olympia returned to Hannes' native ground and started with a small 0.5-hectare plot in 2014. Their wines are grown biodynamically (Demeter) from the very beginning and are among the most exciting Germany has to offer. The terroir is unique. The combination of the blue slate, the slopes near the Enz River and the - almost - continental climate in the area give the wines an amazingly fine expression.
