Spätburgunder Blanc de Noir Brut Nature 2019
There is a hint of “natural” funk in the aftertaste but this just adds to the complexity and beauty of this amazing Sekt. What a great success! 2024-2029. Mosel Fine Wines No67 Sept 2023. Read more
The TF Brut Nature, as it is referred to on the central part of the label (the vintage and other information are provided in small print on the side of the label), was made with grapes picked in a prime south-facing and steep part of the Winninger Domgarten. It was fermented without intervention and was left on its lees after refermentation in the bottle for 30 months before being disgorged without dosage in January 2023 (the disgorgement date is not provided on the label). This hay-colored wine offers an absolutely stunning and hugely “Champagne-like” nose made of pear, yeast, toffee, and subtle floral (rose petal) elements. It is beautifully firm and precise on the palate where the subtle fruity and herbal elements are gorgeously enhanced by a superbly integrated and playful mousse. The finish is tart (think table rather than aperitif) but incredibly persistent. There is a hint of “natural” funk in the aftertaste but this just adds to the complexity and beauty of this amazing Sekt. What a great success! 2024-2029. Mosel Fine Wines No67 Sept 2023.
The TF Brut Nature was produced from grapes grown in a steep, south-facing, and first-class slate portion of the Winninger Domgarten. After 30 months sur lie, it was disgorged in January 2023. The sekt presents with grip, apple must, red berries, nuances of blood orange with zest, tobacco, and yeasty accents. A slight storminess in the mousse is followed by powerful red and yellow fruit; edgy with an elegant oxidation in the delicate, yeasty stone fruit aromas. A very strong newcomer!
