The 2022er Röttgen, as it is referred on the front label, is a legally dry wine (with 6 g/l of residual sugar) made from 40-60-year-old vines which was fermented spontaneously aged on its fine lees in a 1,200-liter Stockinger tonneau (80%) and stainless-steel tank (20%) for 10 months. The first nose is immediately captivating thanks to a finely ripe, floral nose, with notes of almond cream, lily flower, orange blossom, light smoke, poached pear, bergamot, hawthorn, and a hint of melon and roasted pineapple. The wine is very delicate and finely juicy on the palate, with a finely creamy texture, a little large at first. But the wine gains superb tension on the finish, where it is spicy, taut, and zesty. The finesse is remarkable, as is the
intensity of the aftertaste. This delicately smooth, aromatic, yet animating Riesling is splendid! 2027-2042.
