VDP Grosse Lage - Pares
The Pares vineyard, a very small prime site known as far back as the Middle Ages, is home to the grapes for our VDP Grosses Gewächs. The name Pares is derived from the local term for paradise. A wonderful description for a very special vineyard. The high stone content and old vines create wines of great elegance and mineral depth, while the loess content provides a delicate creaminess. The wine's characterful fruit notes are underscored by fine toasted aromas that come from final aging in barriques. Pinot noirs from Pares need many years of aging to develop their full beauty, but are already particularly suitable wines for special occasions - if decanted.
