Pinot Noir Vater & Sohn 2022
Delicate, generous pinot noir with only 12.5% alcohol. Smoky and juicy. Cherries and raspberries. Medium body. Beautiful green notes and chalkiness. Complex and long. A style that recalls the better from Baden (Wasenhaus, Peter Wagner). Read more
The ‘entry level’. Pinot noir from mainly German clones from the somewhat less exciting vineyards near the railway. But. Mind you, this is already seriously good and the vines are about 35 years old. In addition, a fair proportion of the barrels of the ‘Haardt’ pinot noir went into this 'Cuvée Vater & Sohn'. The German version of ‘Père et Fils’. The maceration is partly ‘whole-bunch’. Then pressing with a basket press (often used in Champagne), which is done very gently and precisely. Maturation in French barrels from Francois Frères from Saint-Romain for 18 months. Definitely one of the most Burgundian pinot noirs from German clones we tasted so far. Great value for money. Bravo Philipp Jaillet of Jaillet Viticulteurs.
